Personal data
: Born in Brno, former Czechoslovakia. Since 1976 naturalized German citizen.
Languages: German, English, Czech, Russian

Education : Mechanical engineering at the Technical University in Brno (1968). Postgraduate studies in Powder Technology at the University of Karlsruhe/Germany. PhD in July 1976.


Professional activities as an employee (1977-1990):

Weinheim / Germany:
- Technical development and applied research into different processes applied to the production of rubber and plastics
- Technical manager of a plant producing speciality non-wovens.
- Energy cost reduction in two plants by application of value analysis

Madison / USA:
- Technical advisor within an US-subsidiary of the above-mentioned German company.
- Major improvement in cost structure by means of technical development, by design and implementation of special machinery and by overall cost reduction (3 years)

Waldshut / Germany:
- Management of the Research and Development Department
- Joint planning development and implementation of marketing strategies.
- Secured several patents for improvement of abrasive grain performance; re-construction of a production line for microgrits for grinding purposes.

Aarau-Buchs / Switzerland:
- Design and management of plants for a production of inorganic powders

Larger scale projects

1. Development of a business with a newly-established mineral filler product line for an Austrian mining company.
Achievements:

Set-up of product range in close co-operation with major customers, production cost reduction, writing of a technical manual for sales personnel, selection of trading companies as representatives in several foreign countries, training of sales personnel, strategic planning. 


2. Evaluation of market potential in ten Eastern European Countries for a well-known German producer of white pigments.
Achievements:
Detailed information on market volume and quality, suppliers and prices.
 


3. Identification of a Czech chemical production plant as a joint-venture partner for a German producer of speciality water- and waste water treatment chemicals.


4. Development of a business with talc fillers (scheduled annual volume 10,000 tonnes) as a temporary project manager.

5. Technical improvement of an existing facility for cryogenic grinding of high-value rubber compounds.

6. Successful search for a suitable Eastern European production facility for the large volume supply of electromechanical parts.
